VoIP Telecom Technician / Analyst
We are looking for a smart, talented and aggressive self-starter who can work independently, keep a regular work schedule, organize and prioritize the assignments, and communicate with customers, vendors and management team in a clear and professional manner. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration and testing of VoIP phones and data communications devices such as routers, switches, internet gateways, fax gateways and other related equipment at our customer locations and providing post implementation user and phone administration training. Field responsibilities also include but are not limited to extending, cross connecting and testing of the local carrier’s T-1 circuits and other WAN technologies. Your office responsibilities include answering and resolving customer support calls, placing and tracking service requests with our telecommunication vendors; assisting with ordering, receiving, and tracking equipment inventory, and providing research and design assistance of new technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Provisioning of the hosted PBX system and customer’s VoIP equipment
- Field installation of customer equipment
- Provide post-implementation user and administrative training
- Beginning to end support for all customers pre and post-installAnswering and troubleshooting customer issuesProvide pre-sale assistance in gathering and analyzing customer requirements and VoIP readinessWorking with LECs and vendors with circuit ordering, number porting and during network implementation and troubleshootingWorking with selected carriers in resolving inbound/outbound call quality issues.Provide research and implementation assistance with current and new VoIP technologiesAssist with system/user documentation and technology illustrationManagement of equipment inventory, changes or modifications
Qaulifications:
- Associate’s Degree, Certifications, or equivalent experience in Information Technology/Data Communication
- Experience troubleshooting Voice issues on PSTN and VoIP platforms
- OSI layer1/layer 2/layer 3 troubleshooting skills are necessary
- In-depth knowledge of IP routing
- Working experience with networking, VoIP, Internet connectivity, TCP/IP and addressing schemes, DHCP, and DNS
- Understanding of SIP protocol
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of IP network topologies
- Working knowledge of LAN infrastructure technologies such as Ethernet switches, routers, Internet gateways, and structured cabling systems
- IP Phone deployment – Mitel, Cisco, Polycom
- Strong organizational and professional customer service skills and solid work ethics
- Strong phone communication skills, excellent verbal and written communications and follow-up skills
- Self-sufficient with analytical skills requiring little supervision
- Working knowledge of Telephone interconnects, MPOE, IDF and cross-connect facilities
- Full proficiency in the configuration and use of a PC and Microsoft Office suite especially Word and Excel is a must
- Ability and willingness to work during occasional off-hour installations
Other Requirements: Valid CA driver’s license and reliable mode of transportation.
Work Environment: General office environment with local travel required.
