What types of calls am I allowed to make?

The phone system differentiates between different types of calls. To find out what types of calls you are permitted to make, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the web administration page.
  2. Select My Personal Details from the left menu.
  3. Scroll down to the section of the web display about My Permissions. The check boxes indicate what types of calls you are allowed to make and when you are allowed to make them.

The columns in the My Permissions display indicate when you are allowed to make calls - during times when your company is Open, Closed, during Lunch, or during a Special company-defined time.

The meanings of each of the entries in the My Permissions display are as follows:

  • Emergency - This allows you to dial 911 Emergency. (Always permitted)
  • Internal - This allows you to make calls to other extensions in your company.
  • International - This allows to make international calls (usually prefixed by 9-011)
  • Local - This allows you to make calls to the public telephone network within your local calling area (usually prefixed with 9).
  • Long Distance - This allows you to make long distance calls (usually prefixed with 9-1).
  • Operator Assisted - This allows you to make operator assisted calls (usually by dialling 9-0).
  • Regional - This allows you to make calls to the public telephone network that are outside your local calling area but within your region (known as intra-LATA).
  • Toll Free - This allows you to make calls to toll free numbers (usually prefixed with 9-1-800)
  • Toll Premium - This allows you to make calls to toll premium numbers (usually prefixed with 9-1-976 or 9-1-900)
  • Select Long Distance Provider - This allows you to specify a long distance provider when dialling by inserting a long distance provider access code.
  • Select Regional Provider - This allows you to specify a regional provider when dialling by inserting a regional provider access code.
  • Transfer Inbound Call to External Number - This allows you to use the transfer feature to transfer a call to an external number.
