Why do I need to dial '9' for external calls?

The phone system uses '9' to differentiate between external and internal calls. As a result, to make an external call you must dial '9' and then the number you wish to call. If you are not able to perform external calls, please consult with your phone system administrator or UniVoIP's Technical Support team for further assistance.
