Why does my phone ring but then have no call when I answer?

Most likely, you are a member of a broadcast group. When a call is directed at a broadcast group, the phones of all the members of that broadcast group ring simultaneously. Once one person has answered the phone, all the other phones stop ringing. If you pick up the handset just after the first person answers, you hear dial tone. To determine if you are a member of a broadcast group, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the web administration page.
  2. Select My Call Groups from the left menu. If a call group of type broadcast is in the list and has a status of Logged in, you are currently a logged in member of that broadcast group. Your phone rings when calls come to the group.

If you have permission, you can log in or out of the group. To do this, click on the Logged in status in the My Call Groups display. It should change to Logged out. Click on Logged out to change it back to Logged in. If you do not have permission, ask your administrator to add or remove you from the group.
